Thursday, August 12, 2010 About our topic and speaker: Natalie Bright will review of the 2010 Legislative Session and those issues impacting the business community, particularly the human resource profession. In addition, there will be an overview of the 2010 elections and the key issues confronting the candidates. Bright has more than 13 years of experience lobbying on behalf of Kansas businesses and associations at the state and federal levels. Her expertise is in lobbying business issues, specifically in the areas of taxation, human resources, insurance, economic development, judicial reform and transportation. Bright has a joint degree in business administration and political science from the University of California-Riverside. She received her law degree from Washburn School of Law in 1998 and began lobbying for the Kansas Chamber of Commerce and Industry during the 1998 Legislative Session. While with the state chamber, she worked on several key pieces of legislation including the 1998 reform of the Kansas Board of Tax Appeals and the 1999 Comprehensive Transportation Program. Her current client list is comprised of several associations including the Kansas Association of Health Plans (KAHP), Wichita Independent Business Association (WIBA), the Kansas Independent Business Coalition (KIBC), Kansas Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants (KSCPA) and the Coalition for Opportunity.
